I'm not sure how many years we have hosted a "Pray in the New Year" gathering at our house but I look forward to it every year. There is something about ending a year and then beginning a new one with some of your most special friends and family. It seems we all find it hard to set a time to just get together and enjoy each other's company. So if it doesn't happen any other time throughout the year at least you've been together twice; in the beginning and again in the end. I absolutely love it! We start about 7 p.m. and everyone brings some snack and drinks to share and their favorite games.
This is a game of Scrabble. Susan and Angie were in serious competition for winning, Christy and I on the other hand were just glad to be playing. First game, Angie won. Second game, Susan and Angie tied.
This group was playing another board game but at this moment the name escapes me!
Pool players changed all night long..... I couldn't tell you who was the best pool shark this year but if you really want to know you should have been there!
We always have plenty of food with a big variety and this year was no exception..... It was the last of indulgence of 2008 for several so it tasted extra yummy!
The kids played in the play kitchen stuff, and a few board games. And then there was the pinging of the ping pong balls......... I'm not sure who was the victor there either! Anyway, I think there were a total of about 35 of us. Just around 11:30 p.m. we gathered in a circle and shared things from 2008 and then we joined hands and prayed in the New Year. Around 2 a.m. things began to wind down rather quickly and by 2:30 a.m. the house was dark and quiet. Mmmhhhhhh......... Happy New Year to you all!
