WooHoooooooo Chonda!
The evening started out early. Just after 3 p.m., me and my good buddy ---> Susan, were heading to Max & Erma's restaurant. We dined on chicken tortilla soup and chicken salad
croissants.
We then feasted at the sundae bar and even ordered a warm tray of chocolate chip and macadamia nut cookies to nibble on and take the remainder with us for our next stop. Our next stop was Landmark, where a Chonda Pierce concert was soon to begin. For those of you who don't know, Chonda Pierce is a Christian comedian. She is funny, witty, sobering and convicting all rolled into one nitwit. Last night she once again proved true to her character. The form for the evening was geared around women (as usual). But last night was in regard to menopause, hot flashes, weight gain and depression. The shock of the evening came not when she admitted to being in menopause (one day you too, my pretty, will experience it!) but when she admitted that in January of 2007 she was admitted to a psychiatric clinic in depression and wishing her life would end. She shared how humbling it was to participate in "group", where you introduced yourself and shared why you were there. Sobering it was indeed. But she proved something else, she not only is a born again Christian who happens to be a comedian, she is human, just like you and me.
Chonda has had it rough in many respects. She was abused mentally, physically and sexually at the hand of her pastor. Yes, who also happened to be her dad. She lost a 20 year old sister to an auto accident and within a year lost a 15 year old sister to Leukemia. In the midst of the loss her dad packed his bags and left her, her brother and mother and has never returned. Her brother moved away and so Chonda and her mom have continued on the road of life. She joked about many things last night and entertained and brought laughter and fun. But she also brought a reality check and a spiritual check to all. She gave God the glory and praised Him for helping her and for the gifts He has given to doctors and the medicine field that allow help for those going through any sort of disease or trial in their life. We had a great evening and even saw a familiar face in the crowd. Can you tell from a distance who we saw? If not, how about the close up shot? Yep, we saw Sheri Bell! Thanks for a real treat Susan! You really shouldn't have............ But I'm so glad you did! I owe ya!

Sounds like you guys had a great time!! I enjoy Chonda Pierce, too. It's really amazing what all she's been thru and how God has helped her get thru it- and still is! Wow.
Definitely a great time!!! I was excited about Chonda coming to town and was going with or with out you. But I'm glad that it worked out we could go together. I don't think the night could have been any better.
