Thanks for the music Dad~ I love you!

My dad has always been a talented musician. Never having had any music lessons but learning early in his younger years to play by ear. He can play the guitar, mandolin, fiddle, accordion, piano, organ, and the harmonica, and maybe others I have forgotten to mention. He is now 87 years old and his eyesight is failing as well as the agility of his fingers to play like he once did. I made a decision about three years ago that before my dad should leave this world I wanted him to know that I planned on carrying on with the type of music he has always loved and make an honest attempt to learn some of the instruments he had played. My first purchase was a Martin D35 acoustic guitar, and my teacher....... my dentist; Dr. Brad Monti. I play mostly at home for my own enjoyment and relaxation. I occasionally sing and play in church, which I enjoy so long as my nervousness doesn't get the best of me. Since my first purchase of the Martin three years ago I now have collected a variety of instruments. I have an electric guitar with beautiful inlay of abalone on the front and back, a mandolin, also with abalone inlay front and back, a banjo, an acoustic bass guitar, a tambourine, and about 8 harmonicas in different keys. I have learned to play the harmonica, nothing fancy mind you, but enough to entertain myself. I have a long way to go and lots and lots to learn not just on the harmonica but all the above mentioned instruments. My dad? Well, he knows I'm trying and he offers his encouragement. But I'll never be able to play like him, I do not have his "ear" for music. My brother, Harvey, got the talent in that department and plays a beautiful violin in church services and can get your toes tapping with could old country fiddle playing like we grew up with. Music is a beautiful thing and the memories my family has made down through the years with music making is something I will cherish forever. Thanks dad, I love you!
