Inside the Ross Bakery minding my own business (well, Harry's business actually) I suddenly hear a loud ka-boom! and look up to see electrical lines falling from their usual position.
I hurry outside to see what happened and look to see a utility pole split in two and hanging almost at a perfect right angle! Meanwhile the box truck that clipped it keeps on trucking!
I run inside to dial 911 because the lines, although not touching the ground were low enough that I could have gone up and grabbed hold of them. I run back outside with phone in hand telling the dispatcher to send someone quick..... Several trucks were barreling down and heading straight into the downed lines. I begin waving my arms wildly trying to get the attention of the first truck so that he will be aware of the lines. It seems he is still coming full speed when all of the sudden he either sees me or the lines ~ At any rate he locks up his breaks, white smoke rolls from them as he swerves to the left to miss the lines. Whew! He made it and came to a stop! The couple trucks after him manage to stop, and traffic from the opposite direction is now stopped as well. The 911 phone call is finished and help is on the way. Donut sales however came to a
n abrupt stop as the road was closed down. The driver was tracked down and caught for fleeing the scene and Duke Energy began doing their thing. Ross, never a dull moment!

Oh my word! how exciting! I am so proud that you actually had your camera to take pictures, it actually amuses me a little. What did you grab first...the phone to dial 911 or your camera?
Heather my dear, it is you who has taught me how valuable it is to carry a camera! That is why I requested one at Christmas from Roy small enough to do just that! I did grab the phone first, but as the idea of blogging the whole ordeal came to me I couldn't get to my camera fast enough! The customers will just have to wait I said to myself!!!
